Latest in the 'UP CLOSE' Series

I had such a great time doing 'The Awkward Man' Illustration, that I decided to go ahead and make a series that depicts the idea of getting up close & personal with some interesting characters. For this one, I wanted to still play with the idea of not breaking outside of the confines of the boxed area I was working in and still creating an organic meets geometric vision. 

With 'The Social Woman'), I wanted to touch upon the extreme celebrity/perfection/obsession that seems to be all the rage now among the younger generations. I took inspiration from countless icons in this realm such as Lindsay Lohan, Jackie O and Lady Gaga (among others). I wanted to keep one major element in play, which was disguising the characters' eyes with some sort of eyewear. I always love illustrating eyes but find something intriguing about obstructing that look into a character's "soul". It adds just the right feeling I'm going for in these unusual folks.
