NEW LEGOS Illustration: Sweet.

This is part deux of the commision work I did for Legos.Tumblr in honor of Valentines Day. This one was a bit of a happy accident for me. Initially it was intended that I only do the one illustration (LEGO Stripped), but after some discussions we decided to give a go at a different approach. Usually, I'm immediately struck with inspiration and hit the ground running to execute it. But with this idea, I ping-ponged back and forth for about a week before coming up with a concept I really felt passionate about.
I knew right away that I wanted to depart from the style I was using on the previous two illustrations and go for something a little softer visually with a heavier punch conceptually. I also knew I wanted to explore some sort of type treatment that could interact with the visuals at play. All of this with some playful raunch (a requirement from the start) lead me to the piece above. I have to say, after all is said and done, that I have a lot of love for this piece. Thus far, not even a day into it's debut, it seems to be creating a bit of buzz. Makes me uber happy to know people are appreciating it. Happy Valentines Day! :)
